Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NLT)
This is the marriage verse (or rather verses) that we chose on our wedding day, and ones that we will cherish and cling to.
Love never gives up.
It doesn’t. When you’re struggling to pay the bills. When you’re worried about medical expenses. When you’re looking ghastly or sounding like a madman. When the haunting past wants to sneak in and threaten the present. When failures overwhelm you. When victories make you complacent. You don’t give up. You’re not meant to sit pretty and let it pass by. You’re his/her partner. You struggle and learn together. You mourn and celebrate together.
But mostly, it’s the love of God cascading on you. It’s the overflowing grace from our Savior. He fills you, you empty yourself. You hold on to Him. And with every adventures you go through with your partner, you see Him. You see the cross and you know. You know that TRUE LOVE COSTS EVERYTHING.
